HISTORY:
Welcome House Clubhouse is a part of Elwyn, Inc’s Division of Mental Health and is an ICCD certified clubhouse and licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. Welcome House opened its doors on July 1st, 1994, converting from a traditional vocational rehabilitation program and partial hospital program. At the time of opening, an average of 40 members attended daily. Since 1994, Welcome House has grown to an average daily attendance of 75 members and 10 staff that support four work units to provide a strong work-ordered day and dynamic employment and social program. Today, the clubhouse maintains quality relationships with the ICCD Clubhouse Community, Delaware County Office of Behavioral Health, Community Support Program, Consumer Satisfaction Teams, Delco Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and Local Business Associations and other mental health providers in the Delaware County community.

Welcome House is a member of the Pennsylvania Clubhouse Coalition and certified by the International Center for Clubhouse Development. Elwyn, Inc. is a member of United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (USPRA, formerly IAPSRS) and licensed by the PA Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

MEMBER SERVICES UNIT

· Facilities Job Club
· Tracks employment statistics
· Maintains employment records
· Maintains relationship with employers
· Oversees Multi-Media Operations

EDUCATION UNIT
· Assists  member’s educational goals
· Tracks daily attendance & census
· Edits/Publishes Monthly Newsletter
· Monitors the reception desk
· Provides W.O.D. computer training
· Facilitates Education 
· Monitors clubhouse website development

FOOD SERVICE UNIT 
· Manages Canteen & Snack Shop
· Nutrition Planning and Menu Development
· Inventories and orders food, beverages and maintenance supplies 
· Operates the dish room
· Prepares menu items for holiday events, celebrations, and social
· Prepares meals for TE dinners
· Maintains monthly food service budget

Welcome House’s mission is to be a vital clubhouse community of Rehabilitation that offers respect, hope, mutuality and unlimited opportunity to persons recovering from mental illness in the worlds of work, housing, education, and friendships. Welcome House strives to follow the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs, to focus on members’ abilities-not disabilities, and to foster initiative, cooperation and personal growth in all areas of our Clubhouse.

All Behavioral Health Services at Elwyn are based on the principle that all people, including those with diverse challenges in life, deserve opportunities to build independent, meaningful lives based on personal choices and individual goals. Elwyn is committed to providing the full spectrum of supports for living for people with mental illness on their road to recovery and recognizes that the right supports are vital to recovery for adults challenged by mental illness.

Tuesday – Thursday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Saturday Social (Monthly) 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM 

DIRECTIONS: 
Welcome is located ½ mile west of 69th Street Terminal in Delaware County at 7700 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA, 19082. We are easily accessed by car or public transportation. 

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER? 
Referrals are received from: Magellan Behavioral Health, Base Service Units, OVR, Families, Physicians, Consumers, and Private Agencies

Referral packets need to contain a Delcare Psychiatric Rehabilitation Assessment Cover Sheet, Delcare Psychiatric Rehabilitation Assessment, Psychiatric Evaluation and Diagnosis, the most recent treatment plan, insurance information, and all available supporting client data.

Following a tour of Welcome House, an interview with member services takes place and a Welcome House application packet is completed. This packet is reviewed by the Welcome House admission committee. 

Consumers accepted are those expressing an interest in psychiatric rehabilitation, prevocational services and vocational programming with a clubhouse setting, and those who are psychiatrically stable, and who have a primary psychiatric diagnosis within the category of severe mental illness.

The potential member is invited back to Welcome House for a guest day at the end of which they may choose to join Welcome House.

Consumers are notified as soon as possible of their acceptance or rejection from the program. This usually occurs within a week’s time, but no longer than 30 days.

Authorizations for services may be received from Magellan Behavioral Health Services or from the Delaware County Office of Mental Health.
